Hello! I’m Astari G. Swatantri, an artist creating jewelry and paintings. The beauty, power and fragility of nature, and everyday things in our modern life, are the most important sources of my inspiration. Observing bees among flowers, learning about corals in the sea, and embracing the little joys in this fast-paced world brings me magic. In the same way, I hope to echo the voice of the tiny bees, the corals, and the beauty of everyday life that often go unnoticed, to create sparkles of magic in this unpredictable world.

Sustainability is important in my creative process. The main material for my jewelry is 100% recycled silver which is malleable as clay form, and my latest works include recycled materials such as paper, which embody my messages about our environments. My background in architecture and my passion for painting influence my jewelry creation and generate an authentic voice of innovative and whimsical jewelry. There are stories, moving elements, and even secrets in my jewelry — I often hide surprises to be discovered. Many pieces can metamorphose into a statement piece or another object altogether.

The name SVVA is my one-woman company’s name, originally from ‘Swa’. It’s a Sanskrit word which means ‘(your own) self’, and in Finnish, the letter ‘w’ is called the ‘double v’. Thank you for visiting my website, I’m glad you’re here! If you’re interested in learning more about my work, collaborating, studio visit, or inquiring about available pieces, please do not hesitate to reach out using the contact form or email and sign up to SVVA newsletter to get updates from my studio, I look forward to connecting with you.

Astari G. Swatantri is an award-winning jewelry artist with a Grand Prix of Minister’s encouragement at the Japan Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology and an Award from Japan Jewellery Designers Association. Born and raised in Jakarta, Indonesia, where she studied architecture, she intuitively designs jewelry art with stories, moving elements, and hidden surprises for the audience to discover. Her parallel passion for the art of painting conjures up fresh visions that amalgamate in whimsical jewelry, an innovative fusion of the multiple disciplines. Handsculpting her jewelry primarily with 100% recycled silver in the form of clay, she utilizes various environmentally conscious materials, such as in her ‘I.Sea.You.’ ring series that was awarded the first prize at Aqua Ambra Aquila International Jewelry Competition. She currently lives in Helsinki.
